Abstract

The article focuses on the editorial policy of one Vilnius periodical ‒ the weekly “Belarus” (1913‒1915), the organization of cooperation with the authors, the interest in improving the artistic level of the texts sent, their genre diversity. The themes of figurative and pictorial research of the national writing of the period of laying the foundations of literary classics are actualized. The study was conducted in the general direction of returning names to the history of Belarusian literature, updating the methodology of scientific work in a certain direction. The discovered archival materials and new, pragmatic algorithms for promoting publishing products of the early ХХth century are represented.

The discovery made (an advertising text belonging to the pen of Maxim Bagdanovich) allows us to talk about a precedent in the Belarusian culture of the early twentieth century about author marketing. Thus, the classic of literature, the author of the poetic collection “Wreath” (Vilnius, 1913) appears in an absolutely unknown hypostasis – pragmatic, effective. In front of us is not only advertising information, but also a brief autoharacteristics of creativity. We can talk about the formation of a new creative and biographical discourse. The revealed fact of the poet's cooperation with the Vilnius Catholic newspaper, as well as the names of national figures who grouped around the weekly “Belarus”, are involved in the force field of Bаgdanovich research. It seems likely that Maxim Bаgdanovich could have collaborated with other periodicals, this determines a new direction of archival searches.
