Abstract

The article examines the thematic diversity of polycode texts revealing the concept of wealth, as well as the relevance of each of the thematic subgroups of these texts for the participants of Polish- and Russianspeaking discourse communities. The relevance of the study is conditioned by the widespread use of Internet discourse in modern society, the significant role of the concept of wealth in the conceptosphere and the need to establish the features of mutual influence of the conceptualisation of wealth and intolerant communication in relation to the social group of rich people. The aim of the study is to identify thematic subgroups of polycode texts of high demand among participants of Polish- and Russian-language discourse communities, as well as to determine the features of wealth conceptualisation in these discourse communities. The factual material is represented by Polish and Russian polycode texts published on YouTube, a videohosting site popular among Internet users, selected on the basis of the presence of the conceptual lexemes rich and wealth in the respective languages. The study found that the most popular thematic subgroups of polycoded texts are wealth of a particular subject, wealth in the context of entertainment content, music videos and films. In the Polish-language segment of videohosting, there is a high representation of polycode texts revealing wealth in a religious context.
