Abstract

The article reveals the influence and significance of illustration on the perception of the text of a literary work, analyzes the features of book design in the context of the problem of popularization and distribution of book publications. Despite the large amount of materials devoted to the graphic design of books, this topic has the potential for deeper research and development, and the constant improvement of technology and the emergence of new trends in the design of multi-page publications makes its study relevant. The problem of the influence of book design on the reader’s choice requires a comprehensive analysis of the processes that arise in connection with a radical change in the media priorities of society. A modern book is in constant competition for the reader’s attention with a computer and various mobile devices. A well-made, high-quality printed product, interesting from a graphical and spatial point of view, can interest the consumer. The article highlights the main graphic techniques that can attract the reader’s attention to the book and interest him, namely: the creation of illustrations taking into account modern trends in graphic design, in tune with the mood of the work, and the formation of a complex and interesting space of the book, attention to the overall composition and dynamics of the plot. Practical significance: the main provisions and conclusions of the article can be used in scientific and publishing activities when considering issues about trends in the development of modern book design.
