Abstract

This article examines the development of economic newspapers in the People’s Republic of China, which went hand in hand with the stages of reforms and modernization of the country. The author developed a periodization of the Chinese business media evolution over the course of 45 years, from publications restored after the Cultural Revolution to convergent digital media. The newspapers typical for each period are considered, reflecting the history of development and transformation of the print media during the years of reforms, their typological characteristics, features of the subject, and their role in the informational support of the reforms. It reveals the importance of the content of business newspapers as a source of information and analytical material for decision-making and the formation of economic culture of the audience. According to the author, each new stage of reforms in China also causes changes in the media industry with the active introduction of innovations, including the economic press sector. The author considers the leadership of economic newspapers in the system of Chinese media justified, taking into account their quality level, the dynamics of China’s economic growth and the high demand of the audience for political and economic analysis of events. They are characterized by public service and commitment to the interests of the country, as well as the depth of reflection and analysis of economic phenomena. According to the author, today business media needs to develop a user-oriented communication concept, increase social significance, as well as strengthen their influence in cyberspace and expand the scope of economic informational dissemination.
