Abstract

The article considers new models of monetization of Internet resources in the digital environment. The subject of the study is paywall and crowdfunding as promising sources of media income. The need to diversify the ways of monetizing Internet resources in the context of a crisis in subscription and advertising revenues, as well as increased competition from technology platforms are shown. It was revealed that such business models of traditional media as subscription and advertising no longer meet the realities of the changing media industry. Emphasis is placed on the audience as a new tool for the development of media business. The results of a survey of the leaders of the Belarusian media, as well as expert interviews are given. The author comes to the conclusion that the lack of diversification and innovation in funding sources can jeopardize the financial sustainability of editorial offices. The practical significance of the study is related to the need to develop new digital media business strategies that take into account current models of media production and media consumption.
