Abstract

The article for the first time correlates the editorial and publishing practice of the West Belarusian literary and scientific journal “Colossus” (1935−1939) with the literary and archival search process in Soviet Minsk. Attention is focused on creative and scientific priorities, critical attitude to printed materials, as well as on attracting publications of the Belarusian diaspora in European countries to the sphere of consideration. By the example of individual articles, the consistent work of Western Belarusian researchers with the archival collections of the Ivan Lutskevich Belarusian Museum of Vilna is demonstrated.

The intellectual vector of research activity in Western and Eastern Belarus, the implementation of the achieved results is in the field of view. The publication versions of the article by Mikhail Larchenko and Lyubov Figlovskaya “new materials about the Belarusian literature of the XIX century” are considered separately − in projection on scientific and educational requests in the Belarusian sociocultural realities on both sides of the state border.

The main specifics of the national publishing, research, archival and search activities are determined. An attempt is made to correlate some aspects of the life of the cultural, educational, academic, educational spheres of Western and Eastern Belarus. The contextual characteristics of European cultural and scientific actualities, as well as the conditions for the development of the culture of national minorities in interwar Poland, the circumstances of the new social construction in the BSSR are given.
