Abstract
The article examines the problems of formation and development of the public education system in the BSSR in the 1920s. This direction was of paramount importance in the complex of developed measures to implement the policy of Belarusianization. The basic principle was the implementation of Belarusianization in all categories of educational institutions. The problems of scientific development of the Belarusian language, its terminology, teacher training, formation of the teaching staff of the higher school, formation of the network of education of national minorities were solved. This time became an important stage in the formation of Belarusian science, when the first scientific institutions developed their activities, the formation of scientists was formed. As a result of this policy, the scientific base of the republic’s universities was significantly strengthened, which provided training for both practitioners and young Belarusian professors, who, together with scientists who came to the BSSR at the invitation of the Belarusian government, was quite significant at the time the intellectual potential of Belarusian science, which was just being born. In the 1920s, the system of public education was mainly formed, the principles of state policy and the activities of party and public organizations in this area were formed. It was then that the foundations of the modern Belarusian language were laid.
