Abstract
The article examines the main directions of the social and political activity of the teachers of Belarus during the revolutionary events of 1905–1907. It is emphasized that the material and legal status of teachers influenced the spiritual image of teachers, their psychology, patterns of behavior and social activity. Despite the strict regulation and control over teaching activities, the suppression of any independence on the part of the government and directly the educational authorities, at the beginning of the twentieth century, developed a fairly broad socio-political movement of teachers for reforming schools on new democratic principles: teachers' congresses and meetings, participation in the activities of the State Duma, pedagogical press, distribution of illegal literature, anti-government propaganda among the local population, etc. The study is based on the use of regulatory legal acts, archival materials, statistical data, materials from periodicals, etc.
