Abstract

The quality of periodicals today is perceived primarily as a factor in the competitiveness of products. However, due to constant changes in the field of media and insufficient attention to the multidimensional category of quality, there is no single, multilateral view on the nature of mass media quality.

In the article, the authors have identified an array of scientific and methodological basis on the issue of the modern mass media quality. Its analysis is carried out, the degree of study of the question under consideration from the standpoint of technical, printing science and the standpoint of journalism and publishing is determined. The conclusion is made about the necessity and promptness of the implementation of a new, relevant scientific research regarding the quality criteria of mass media.
