Abstract

The article deals with the problems of adapting foreign reality shows to the national specifics of the Chinese audience. The features of such adaptation at different stages of the development of reality shows in China are analyzed. The author highlights the differences between Western reality shows and their adapted Chinese models. In the article, the author points out the necessity of producing content that will reflect the social and moral values of the Chinese audience. The author emphasizes the importance of stimulating the educational function in the adaptation process by using edutainment technologies, which combines educational and entertainment practices. Based on the examples of reality shows, specific measures are proposed to adapt foreign reality shows to the national specifics of the Chinese audience.
