Abstract
The article examines the activities of the Polish government in establishing local military administration bodies on the Belarusian lands that were under Polish control. Created in 1918–1921 general districts in the region performed the functions of territorial administrations of the Polish Army. It is noted that the structure of districts in the Belarusian lands generally repeated the structure of central government bodies. The commanders who headed them were endowed with broad powers. Throughout the interwar period, district departments were responsible for the organization of internal service, combat training, comprehensive support, as well as for issues related to cooperation with civil authorities, including assistance in the fight against the national liberation movement of Belarusians. It is concluded that military district departments occupied an important place both in the security system of the region and the country as a whole. The districts on the Belarusian lands were not formed simultaneously, and their structure was characterized by instability, which was due to the emerging military-political situation around the Second Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. In connection with the end of the Polish-Soviet War, the administrative-territorial reorganization and the transition of the army to a peaceful organization in November 1921, the general districts that existed on the Belarusian lands were reorganized into corps districts.
