Abstract

In the early 1990s, the Republic of Belarus faced the most difficult tasks associated with the need to create its own Armed Forces with a simultaneous deep reform of the military organization of the state, as a result of which one of the important areas of activity of the military department at that time was the solution to the issue of organizing the training of its own military personnel. In the conditions of a tense socio-economic, political and ideological crisis in the Republic of Belarus caused by the collapse of the USSR, an important task was not only to preserve, but also to further develop military educational institutions located on its territory. The relevance of these measures is due to the traditionally high role of the officer corps of the defense department in fulfilling the tasks of ensuring military security of the state, as well as protecting its sovereignty and state integrity. The article considers the historiography of the problem of formation and development of military education in civilian institutions of higher education of the Republic of Belarus. Various publications, such as scientific journal and newspaper articles, as well as monographs and dissertations, are analyzed. The cited publications show the evolution and specific stages of the creation of the national military school, provide historical aspects related to the creation, formation and development of the military education system in the Republic of Belarus. It is concluded that the problem of the evolution of military education in civilian institutions of higher education of the Republic of Belarus, despite its relevance, has not been sufficiently studied in the Belarusian historiography of 1998-2016.
