Abstract

The article deals with public space and the problems of its conception and transformation. The theories of two authors – Hannah Arendt and Jürgen Habermas – are chosen as the main points of reference. The article discusses the similarities and differences between these theories, as well as their conceptual interaction. The paper attempts to prove that the opposition of the state to civil society arising in the conditions of transformation of public space is not fully justified, and the pubic sphere connecting these two spheres is not autonomous.
