Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the typological model of the popular science magazine “Focus”, published during the period of transformation of many spheres of life in Belarus and the country's transition to market development paths. The periods of operation of the publication and such typological characteristics as founders, editorial board, team of authors, reader's address, functional purpose, circulation, distribution, price, lack of commercial purpose have been established. Attention is drawn to the variety of headings, their names, and content. Permanent, temporary and one-time headings have been identified. A conclusion is made about the diversity of publications (tests, reports, mathematical problems, reviews, essays, etc.), multitasking and the presence of a cognitive component in them. The key problem-thematic aspects that form the subject area of the journal as a source of scientific, popular science, and educational information are identified.
