Abstract

Based on a wide range of archival and published sources, the wages of workers and employees at factory enterprises in Minsk in the late 19th – early 20th century are considered. The dependence of the wage level of workers on qualifications, gender, age, specialization of production is established. The wages of employees employed in the management and organization of production are analyzed in detail on the example of employees of the N. Y. Yakobson iron foundry and mechanical plant. The growth of nominal wages of workers and employees in the period under review is shown. The minimum wage, which was set by the Provincial Office for Factory and Mining Affairs, was received by laborers. Depending on the capabilities of enterprises, the wages of work could differ significantly from those established by the provincial for factory and mining affairs by the presence of norms. With sufficiently high earnings of hotel employees employed in the enterprise management system, more than half received a salary comparable to that of a laborer. Some increase in the nominal wages of workers and employees in the late 19th – early 20th century. it was restrained by the rise in prices for basic food and housing, which took most of the earnings to pay for.
