Abstract

The subject of the study is the current directions of the development of Western Belarusian issues by Polish historians at the current stage. Based on the results of these studies, the author defines the third modern period, which covers the end of the 1980s – 2000s, and consists of two stages. The first stage covers the end of the 1980s – the end of the 1990s, characterized by an attempt by Polish researchers to objectively assess the existence of Belarusians as a nation in Poland in the interwar years. The second stage of the third period in the Polish historiography of West Belarusian issues can be considered from the beginning of the 2000s, and it lasts until today. The third period is characterized by radical changes in modern historical research, thanks to the use of IT technologies and changes in tools and methods of historical research.
