Abstract

In the post-occupation and first post-war years in Belarus, in the context of the intensive growth of the network of school institutions, the issue of providing them with pedagogical personnel arose extremely acutely. In order to prepare the necessary number of teachers for all levels of the general education school of the republic at the full-time departments of pedagogical and teachers' institutes and pedagogical schools, significant funds and material resources were needed, and most importantly ‒ a sufficiently long period of preparation. In difficult socio-economic conditions, it was decided to restore the system of distance teacher education that existed in the pre-war years, which, first of all, was supposed to cover teachers already working in the school. In this article, based on the study of archival sources, a retrospective analysis and assessment of the process of restoring the correspondence system of training and advanced training of pedagogical personnel of the republic in the post-occupation and first post-war years is presented.
