Abstract

Biological resources are the assets of the country’s national wealth. Wild plant and non-cultivated animal resources of Belarus are used in many areas of the economy, generate income, but underestimated. The purpose of the study is to develop methodological foundations for the economic assessment of noncultivated biological resources of plant (except for forest) and animal (except for hunting) origin. The article examines the place of non-cultivated biological resources in the system of economic and environmental accounting of the national wealth of the Republic of Belarus. The classification of noncultivated biological resources has been investigated. An economic classification of non-cultivated biological resources has been proposed. A methodology has been developed for assessing non-cultivated biological resources of plant and animal origin. Economic valuation of non-cultivated biological resources includes: natural valuation, monetary value. Valuation is a monetary expression of the value of non-cultivated biological resources. The valuation in the methodology is a capitalized valuation. The assessment uses the opportunity cost method. The assessment uses taxes for determining the environmental damage caused by the removal (or destruction) of wild animals and plants.
