Abstract

In December 1920 the Belarusian State Polytechnical Institute (BSPI) was founded in Minsk. The Faculty of сhemistry and technology functioned there. However in July 1922 BSPI was reorganized in the Belarusian State Institute of Agriculture. At the end of 1929 the decision to resume the activities of the Polytechnical Institute in Minsk was made. The government of the BSSR decided to transfer the opened in 1929 Faculty of сhemistry and technology in the Belarusian State University to the newly created Polytechnical Institute. However a separate Institutе of сhemistry and technology was created in Minsk. In July 1933 it became part of the finally opened Belarusian Polytechnical Institute and functioned there as the faculty until 1975 (from 1965 named Faculty of engineering and technology). The contribution to personnel training and development of chemical science of the teaching staff as well as graduates of the faculty of Belarusian Polytechnical Institute is shown. This faculty served as the basis for the creation of a number of faculties and universities of the сhemical and technological profile.
