Abstract

The possibility of using the data from the subcompartment database of the geographic information system “Forest resources” to carry out a qualitative assessment of forested lands and determine the degree of use of their potential is given in this article. As its criterion, the economic productivity of a hectare of forest area is taken – the ratio of the economic assessment of the volume of mature stands to the rotation felling. The qualitative assessment of the natural fertility of forest soils of mature pine stands was carried out on the basis of their actual and potential productivity, regardless of economic conditions. Calculations were made for dry lands pine forests in the exploitable category of forests for Shumilino, Slonim, Belynichy and Drogichin forestry enterprises. The qualitative assessment is carried out on a closed 100-point scale, which reflects the productivity of best stands, capable of using the potential fertility of forest soils in specific soil conditions. As the maximum indicator of economic efficiency, the calculated value was used for the most productive stand in the most favorable growing conditions – the sourish type of the mature pine stand. The research results can be applied in forestry practice in the transformation of forest lands and the increasing the overall productivity of forests.
