Abstract
The article examines the “Indo-Pacific Strategy” in the United States and the influence of containment of China in the Indo-Pacific region. On December 18, 2017, the United States unveiled a new regular “US National Security Strategy,” the PRC was called the “strategic rival” of the United States. The United States hopes to restrain China’s expanding influence by reinforcing China’s containment in the “First Island chain”. Taiwanese politics as part of the US Indo-Pacific Strategy is the result of a combination of factors, external factors include the development of Sino-US relations and the development of Sino-Taiwan relations. During the Trump administration, the government of Taiwan was governed by the DPP after the change of political parties. After the change of political parties in Taiwan, the US policy towards Taiwan has also changed.
