Abstract

The important role of the newspaper Pressball – the leader among the Belarusian sports press – in the information space of Belarus is noted. Separate typological features of the publication are considered during the activities of the five chief editors of the sports media resource from 1991 to 2021: founders, circulation, technical capabilities for correspondents, the material component of the editorial office, the creation of a website and subscription to the PDF version. The quantitative indicators of the newspaper’s weekly output (one, two, four times) and their impact on the creation of the newspaper's periodization are analyzed. Taking into account two criteria (the identity of the editor and the frequency of publication for a week), it is proposed to distinguish three stages of the formation and development of the publication. It is concluded that in order to fully and objectively identify the stages, it is necessary to study the thematic and genre range of the publication, as well as socio-political and economic indicators.
