Abstract

The results of reproduction and preservation of the pine formation of Belarus for 1961–2021 in the context of its origin are considered. The trend of high preservation of pine crops and a significant loss of natural renewal, resulting in the loss of the naturalness of pine forests, is stated. There is a good level of reproduction of young forests, with a high-quality species composition. The subsequent development of young trees is characterized by a partial replacement of pine, spruce and hard-leaved stands with small-leaved formations. The optimal participation of main tree stands in the forest fund of Belarus is recommended on average 87.0% of the area of forested land. The real share is noticeably lower – 71.0%. Over the past six decades, the area of stands of coniferous species (+350.0 thousand hectares), birch, aspen and other less valuable (+1129.1 thousand hectares) has increased, which is irrational. When transferring uncollected forest crops and natural renewal to the category of valuable plantings, the share of coniferous stands is 71.3% on average (over the past fifty years). After 10 years after the transfer, this share decreased to 58.9%, and after 30 years – to 30.9%. These are the disadvantages of forest care. It is proposed to prevent the replacement of indigenous pine stands with small-leaved derivatives within the framework of the “method for restoring indigenous stands in derived forests” based on the “individual / focal” method of felling the care of trees of the main species in production smallleaved young trees with minor participation in the composition of pine and other main species.
