Abstract

The article examines the essence and features of patriotic consciousness. It is noted that the formation of patriotic consciousness is largely determined by the spiritual needs, interests and conditions of society’s existence, and also depends on historical changes in the social, political and cultural environment, due to which it acquires some new features. The mechanisms of interaction of psychological and rational levels of perception of patriotism, which combine the unity of sensual, intellectual and volitional impulses of an individual, necessary for the implementation of patriotic activities, are revealed. The author analyzes the features of the patriotic activity of the individual, based on the unity of the rational, emotional and volitional component of patriotic actions. It is indicated that an activity becomes socially significant subject to the regulation of the formation of its cultural norms, customs and traditions. The article analyzes patriotic needs as an internal stimulus for the patriotic activity of an individual. The value of patriotic needs lies in the fact that they play a decisive role in the formation of a person’s spiritual culture. In the con-clusion, it is emphasized that patriotic consciousness is a spiritual education that expresses a person’s attitude to his Fatherland and the degree of readiness to protect his national interests. True patriotism appears in the unity of spirit-uality, civic consciousness and social activity of a person who realizes his inseparability with the Fatherland.
