Abstract
The article attempts to form a coevolutionary approach in diagnosing risks and challenges of instability in modern society. For this purpose, in the introductory part of the article, the author’s position of understanding the origin of social and socio-natural instability in relation to the ambiguity, multivector, dialectical contradiction of the processes and results of coevolution is stated. The complexity of the structure and functions of coevolution is due to the complexity of the organization and connections of coevolving systems and therefore it must be considered as a statistical regularity in relation to the possibilities of preserving interdependently developing systems. Coevolution reflects, reproduces, preserves, transforms, integrates dialectical contradictions of interacting systems, and therefore its role in the self-organization of biological and social systems is considered by the author as generating not only stable conditions for their existence, but also the risks of interrelated changes. In the context of this methodological position, the article examines the relationship between the ascending (actually coevolutionary) and descending (coevolutionary) branches in the conjugate development of social systems. The statement is substantiated that the risks of instability arise in society due to the insufficient degree of regulation of the ratio of creative and destructive tendencies of spontaneous coevolution.
