In chronological order, the author has made a comparative analysis of the content and information richness of educational publications for secondary schools and determined the peculiarities of presentation and tonality of material directly on the history of Russia. It is noted that since the second half of the 1990s, textbooks have been characterized by a high didactic and printing level of execution, a large number of illustrations, and a significant number of auxiliary didactic elements. It is concluded that the student and teacher on the pages of educational books face a scientifically objective, and generally positive image of Russian history during the XVI– early XXI centuries. It is emphasized that in a relatively short period of the sovereign Republic of Belarus, thanks to the efforts of famous scientists, methodologists and teachers, the national system of school history education was formed and continues to develop dynamically.
