Abstract

In modern conditions of media development, the readership has almost limitless opportunities to get the information it needs. An important factor in a successful periodical is not only the question of what to place on the pages of the magazine, but also how. This implies the need for a competent construction of the visual image of the magazine, considering a wide range of social, cultural, aesthetic, political, technological and production features of the creation of periodicals.

In this article, the question of the importance of building a rational mechanism for orienting a periodical, considering the reader's address and the intended purpose, is considered. The definition of the term “orientation apparatus” is given, a review of the literature on the topic of scientific work is conducted, the relevance of the research is substantiated. The features of constructing a compositional and graphic model in literary and art magazines are revealed.

Using the example of the Belarusian literary and artistic periodical “Dzeyaslou”, a thorough analysis of the algorithm of readers' actions when working with the magazine was carried out, the features of the constituent elements of the navigation system were revealed, the principles of layout were considered. The results of the study are summarized, an assessment of the construction of the orientation apparatus of the analyzed journal is given.
